Biodegradable polysaccharide grafted polyacrylamide inhibitor for corrosion in CO2- saturated saline solution

A biodegradable polysaccharide-based inhibitor is grafted with polyacrylamide (PAM) for oilfields’ sweet corrosion. The green properties of agar and PAM were incorporated to synthesize an agar-grafted-PAM (AGGPAM) inhibitor. Electrochemical tests Tafel AC impedance, used determine the corrosion rate carbon steel (C-steel) protection efficiency in CO2-saturated 3.5 wt% NaCl solution. surface morphology was characterized using FESEM coupled EDX. Results demonstrated promising performance AGGPAM improving resistivity, achieving 85% at 500 mg L−1 reducing from 33 4.9 mils per year 25 °C. electrochemical classified as a mixed-type inhibitor, yet larger potential inhibit cathodic hydrogen evolution. Kinetics study temperature 50 °C revealed deteriorated inhibition attributed electrolyte diffusion through weakly adsorbed film. Nevertheless, AGGPAM-inhibited solution exhibited 26.7 °C, which still lower than that blank resistance diminished 1436 355 Ω cm2 Implementing coating reduced 9.6 year, 71% efficiency. toxicity evaluated ADMETlab, predicted negligible hazardous impacts.
